Welcome to Halfway up the Stairs! We are an award-winning children’s bookshop based in Greystones, Co Wicklow. In November 2023, we were named the An Post Bookshop of the Year Winner! We stock books for all children – from babies right up to young adults – and we also stock a selection of high quality toys and gifts. We feel it is important to have a wide range of books, stocking not only bestsellers but also new, diverse and imaginative books. We have a strong representation of Irish authors and a comprehensive Irish language section.

November 2023: We are over the moon to have been named An Post Bookshop of the Year!

Our Jumping Off the Page Comic Book Festival is taking place on October 4th and 5th in the shop and in The Whale Theatre in Greystones. Find out more here

March 2023: We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been named Best Independent Bookshop in Ireland (2022) as well as being shortlisted for Children’s Bookseller of the Year (2022)!

We were nominated for Children’s Bookseller of the Year for the third time. We were also longlisted for the An Post Book Awards Bookshop of the Year 2021. Thank you to everyone who voted for us.
